Suppose you cook a lot from recipes or regularly make slight adjustments to them. Then, it may be time to learn how to edit and customize recipes in MyNetDiary. Knowing how to use these tools allows you to adjust recipes to suit your needs, providing a more personalized recipe experience.
Before you edit your recipe, you must find it. In the mobile app, navigate to Me > Manage My Foods > Recipes. In the web app, tap the star icon by the nutrient column names, then select “My Recipes” in the left menu bar to locate recipes.
Once you've found your custom recipe, scroll to the bottom of the screen, tap “View Recipe,” tap the settings icon (3 dots in the upper-right-hand corner). This will allow you to see all recipe fields that are available for editing.
You can change or delete an ingredient amount, reorder the list of ingredients, or view an ingredient's food label. When using Android or the web app, tap the 3-dot icon to the right of the ingredient to find these options. For iOS, just tap any ingredient to view the editing options.
Remember to save your changes!
For recipe edits that affect calories (as in "Ingredients," "Recipe Weight," or "Total Servings"), you can make those edits if you have logged the recipe only once or have not yet logged the recipe. After editing and saving your recipe, go to the meal where you logged it before and adjust the serving size to reflect what you ate–MyNetDiary prompts you to do this because the serving size changes to keep the calories constant.
Suppose you have already logged your recipe in multiple meals, but still want to make edits that will cause a change in calories. Use Copy & Customize instead of Edit to make recipe changes. The recipe name will need to be changed, and the changes will take effect going forward.
The Copy & Customize feature turns one recipe into a base or template for another new recipe. This time-saver is ideal when the new recipe is simply a variation of an existing recipe. For instance, it helps when substituting safflower oil for canola oil or adding extra chicken to a particular recipe.
Additionally, use Copy & Customize to customize a Premium Recipe or a recipe someone shares with you. Once you have made the desired changes, rename the recipe for more personalization. If you forget to change the recipe name before saving, the word Customized will automatically appear next to the recipe name (for Android or the web). With iOS, you must rename the recipe to save the changes.
In any meal log, bring up the recipe, tap “View This Recipe,” and then tap “Copy & Customize.”
