We’ve got you (and the Easter Bunny) covered with Easter treats for a healthy celebration! This year, make Easter extra special with a basket filled with fun, creative, and nutritious surprises that won’t lead to sugar or calorie overload.

Healthy Easter Treats

Keys to healthy Easter treats

There are no hard and fast rules about "egg-ceptional" Easter baskets, well, maybe a few–they should be colorful and include delightful treats and perhaps a few little gifts. But who says the treats can't be healthy for Easter celebrations?

Go for quality over quantity

If Easter doesn't feel complete without chocolate, go for quality over quantity! Choose dark chocolate (60% cocoa or higher) for its antioxidant benefits and lower sugar content. Select a few high-quality treats instead of piling up a cartful of candy.

Bonus tip: Healthier chocolate treats and individually wrapped chocolates can satisfy a sweet tooth and help with portion control!

Fill plastic eggs with little gifts

Who says plastic eggs have to be filled with sweets? Here are some creative, non-candy fillers that bring just as much joy:

  1. Mini toys: Bouncy balls, Silly Putty, or mini figurines
  2. Arts & crafts: Stickers, crayons, or tiny watercolor paint sets
  3. Activity coupons: “Stay up 15 minutes later” or “Pick the family movie”
  4. Accessories: Fun socks, hair ties, or temporary tattoos
  5. Brain boosters: Puzzle pieces (they have to find them all!) or mini books
  6. Healthier treats: Sugar-free gum, trail mix, or dark chocolate-covered nuts

Create a themed basket

Choosing a theme shifts the focus away from candy and makes Easter extra egg-citing! Here are some fun Easter basket themes for giving with or without a few healthy treats:

Enjoy a healthy Easter brunch

Fuel up with a satisfying brunch before diving into the Easter goodies! Try these spring-inspired dishes:

And remember—it's okay to enjoy a small portion of your favorite Easter treat after your meal!

Keep leftover candy out of sight

Out of sight, out of mind! Instead of leaving candy-filled baskets in high-traffic areas, store them in a pantry or cupboard. If you grab a treat, whether a few jelly beans, some Peeps, or a Cadbury Egg, be mindful and enjoy it without guilt. Logging it on MyNetDiary can keep you on track!

A healthier, hoppier Easter

Focusing on creative, non-candy surprises and healthy treats will make Easter memorable without excess calories or a sugar rush. Get creative, have fun, and enjoy the holiday with your favorite “peeps!”
