Daily Exercise Help

Please see MyNetDiary for iPad Help for application overview and more help options.

Exercise entry in MyNetDiary is very similar to food entry - simply start typing exercise name directly in the table, and you will immediately see matches found. Tap the exercise you need, then enter or select amount, and you are done.

In addition, you can enter exercise notes, to keep other statistics about this day's exercise.

Entering Amounts

Amount entry in MyNetDiary is so unusually simple and efficient that, surprisingly, some folks are having a hard time finding it. To get the most of it, we are providing very detailed instructions here.

Once you have selected the exercise, you should see one or several units listed, depending on the exercise. Most of the exercises have some times listed in the units, walking and running exercises may have distances listed, and all exercises have calories listed as well (so that you can enter any calorie number directly).

Simply type a number representing the number of units - minutes, miles, or calories - and then tap the unit. Please note that while you can enter any quantity, you can select only among listed units. If some unit is not listed, then MyNetDiary does not have information for it and cannot calculate calories.

If you changed your mind, and it's not "5 minutes" but "5 miles", you can simply tap "mile" in the amounts (if listed). Whatever the number you have entered, it will be preserved. If you want to change the number, simply edit it with the keyboard delete key and enter new number and tap the unit you need.

After the amount box shows what you need - the number and the unit, then tap elsewhere to dismiss the units popup and automatically save your exercise entry.

This way, it is very easy to enter any amount. On top of that, all your previous amount entries for each exercise are remembered and will be listed above other units in blue, so the next time you do this exercise and the same amount, you will only need to tap your previous amount entry.

Deleting Exercise Entries

There are two ways to delete an exercise entry. You can tap the Calories column, and then select Delete Exercise Entry in the menu appearing. Another way to delete an exercise entry is simply erase exercise name from the table with keyboard delete key.

Custom Exercise

If you are do an exercise not present in the MyNetDiary database and you know its calories, you can create a custom exercise.

Another situation when you need a custom exercise is when your exercise equipment calculates calories burned, or if you wear some body monitor, reporting calories burned. In such cases, you need to create once a new custom exercise and enter "calories" as a unit. Then, next time you do the exercise, you can enter the calories provided by your machine or body monitor directly into the exercise table.

When you create a custom exercise, the required information is exercise name, exercise group, and calores/unit. Unit can be a "set", or a minute, or anything else.

To edit a custom exercise, you need to tap an existing exercise entry with it in the table, in the Calories column. A popup menu will be shown, with an option to edit the custom exercise.
